Reducing what burdened the internal terrain and nourishing
what strengthened my body.

The body has the ability to heal

As part of my holistic cancer recovery journey, I incorporated a number of detoxification therapies and natural wellness practices to support circulation, elimination, cellular health and my body’s own restorative processes. From ozone therapy and Rife frequency therapy to castor oil packs, rebounding and sunlight exposure, each approach became one element of a broader lifestyle focused on creating the best possible environment for healing. On this page, I share the detox protocols I personally used, what drew me to them, and how they fitted into my wider integrative approach to wellbeing.

“The body is a self-healing organism, so it's really about clearing things out of the way so the body can heal itself.”

NUA Wellness Ozone Therapy
Ozone therapy

Supporting Oxygenation & Cellular Function

Ozone has multiple positive effects within the human body. Dr. Frank Shallenberger's research highlights some of these, which is very beneficial for anybody who wants to support their body:

• Ozone may stimulate the production of white blood cells. These cells protect the body from viruses, bacteria, fungi and cancer.
• Ozone is antineoplastic. This means that ozone may inhibits the growth of new cancer tissue.
• Ozone stimulates the secretion of IL-2. Interleukin-2 is one of the cornerstones of the immune system.
• Ozone kills most bacteria at low concentrations, is effective against most types of fungi and is an effective virucide.
• Ozone breaks down petrochemicals. These chemicals have a potential to place a great burden on the immune system.

I underwent ozone therapy under the care of Prof. Dr. Izak Grové
Sauna

Supporting Detoxification Through Heat

During my healing journey, I used both an infrared sauna blanket and a traditional sauna. A sauna blanket is a portable, sleeping bag-style device that uses far-infrared heat to warm your body and induce sweating at home.

• Sauna therapy exposes the body to a short period of controlled heat stress, raising core temperature and heart rate while increasing circulation and sweating, which in turn activates a range of protective and adaptive responses at the cellular level.
• White blood cells (leukocytes) are the front line of your immune defense. Sauna use may temporarily increase white blood cells, which are an important part of the body’s immune system because they help identify and fight infections.
• Heat exposure may help stimulate natural killer (NK) cells, which act as part of the body’s first line of defence by identifying and destroying abnormal cells.

Use a sauna 3-5 times per week for 15-20 minutes.

CASTOR OIL PACKS

Supporting the Body's Natural Elimination & Detoxification Pathways

Cold-pressed, Hexane-free castor oil penetrates deeply through the skin and tissue to help break up stagnation, cysts, and fibroids. Castor oil packs can be incorporated into a wellness routine to provide gentle, targeted support.

• Castor oil is naturally high in ricinoleic acid and is valued for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
• May help to enhance circulation & lymphatic flow.
• May help to detoxify the liver naturally
• Relief from muscular or abdominal discomfort and bloating.
• May relieve constipation and sluggish digestion.
• Supports uterine and ovarian wellness.

Consistency is key. Use a castor oil pack every day or every oher day. Place the pack under the right ribcage to cover organs, including the liver, stomach and small intestine. Packs can also be placed on the abdominal area for colon support. To increase absorption, a hot water bottle can be placed on top of the pack to serve as a hot compress.
hot epsom salt bath

Increases Circulation, Stimulates Sweating & Natural Detoxification

The benefits of a hot Epsom salt bath are twofold. Epsom salt may support the body’s natural detoxification processes, while sweating through the skin provides an additional route of elimination alongside the kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.

Add 1 to 2 cups of 100% magnesium sulfate into a standard tub of warm-to-hot water and soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

• Epsom salt may support the body with detoxification.
• Clinical studies suggest that hot-water immersion may produce a temporary increase in certain immune cells approximately 24 to 48 hours after heat exposure. These include Natural Killer (NK) cells, which help identify and destroy virus-infected and abnormal cells, as well as CD8+ cytotoxic T cells, which are important white blood cells involved in eliminating infected or compromised cells.
• The combination of warm water mixed with Epsom salt allows your autonomic nervous system to shift from the sympathetic state (stress/anxiety) into the parasympathetic state (rest, digest, and recovery). This supports relaxation an improves sleep.

rebounding and dry brushing

Encouraging Lymphatic Movement & Waste Removal

Benefits of Rebounding
Rebounding involves jumping on a mini-trampoline. It exercises every cell in your body by leveraging the forces of gravity.
• Rebouding boosts lymphatic flow. Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system has no internal pump. The vertical bouncing motion creates a natural pumping effect that opens and closes one-way lymphatic valves, flushing out waste.
• Rebounding absorbs up to 80% of the shock on joints compared to running, protecting your knees, hips, and ankles while still providing a highly efficient calorie burn and stimulating circulation.

Benefits of Dry Brushing
Dry brushing is an ancient technique that utilizes a natural-bristle brush moved over dry skin.
• One of the primary benefits of dry brushing is its ability to support lymphatic flow. Brushing up toward major lymph node clusters (like the groin and armpits) gently stimulates lymphatic pathways.
• It also stimulates blood circulation which brings oxygenated blood to the surface.
• It may increases energy levels and is widely recommended as a morning habit to help wake up the body.

Perform gentle bouncing for 5-15 minutes daily.

Supporting Vitamin D Synthesis, Circadian Rhythm & Wellbeing

According to the National Institute of Health, low blood levels of vitamin D are linked to a higher risk of developing colorectal cancer and poorer survival outcomes.

But how does Vitamin D protects the colon?

• Reduces inflammation: Vitamin D calms chronic mucosal inflammation in the gut that can lead to cancer.
• Stops cell growth: The active form of vitamin D (calcitriol) slows down the rapid, uncontrolled division of cells.
• Triggers cell death: It promotes apoptosis (programmed cell death) in damaged or abnormal cells.
• Supports the gut barrier: It strengthens tight junction proteins in the intestines to lower harmful bacterial activity.
• Sunlight exposure improves emotional well-being by triggering serotonin production and regulating your body’s circadian rhythm.

Then your light will break out like the dawn;
And your healing (restoration, new life) will quickly spring forth.
